Causes and Treatment of Mouth Sores: You feel pain in the throat especially when swallowing? Today’s article is for you. I particularly is a victim of this condition and I am learning a lot from today’s article too.

Did you know that there are 13billion visits to the doctors office each year (so, there are 12.999million persons apart from me). A Sore Throat is a pain in the throat (hahaha…. you were expecting yet another big definition?).

Common Causes of This Sore Throat Are:

1. Overuse of voice

2. Burn from hot foods

3. Very dry mouth

4. Sleeping with mouth open (the mouth can loose moisture and become dry)

5. Cold and flu and other viral infections

6. Strep throat and other bacterial infections

7. Allergies, dry air, smoke and chemicals

8. Injuries to the mouth or throat

9. Tumour

10. Gastroesophagal Reflux Disease (GERD) – Acid from stomach goes back up into the Oesophagus and the acid burns the Oesophagus and throat and can also cause heart burns.

Although throat sore can be uncomfortable, it will usually go away on its own (self limiting). But, minor home remedies are

1. Gargle mixture of warm water and half tablespoon of salt

2. Drink warm liquids that soothes the throat, example: hot tea and honey, soup broth.

3. Rest the voice

4. Turn on the humidifier to moisten the air.

If symptoms persist, always remember to visit the doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.

That’s all for sore throat today, hope you learnt something and put it to good use. Have a nice day ahead.
